Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma fans openly called bots by Ravichandran Ashwin

Former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has created a storm on social media by making a bold comment about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s fan bases. Ravichandran Ashwin dropped a statement that immediately went viral while talking about the ongoing buzz surrounding Ravindra Jadeja’s possible exit from Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Ashwin addressed why Ravindra Jadeja’s rumored trade deal with Rajasthan Royals (RR) did not trigger the emotional outburst on social media that one would expect if it involved someone like Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma.

However, Ravichandran Ashwin shocked everyone by claiming that much of the hype surrounding Kohli and Rohit has been artificially created. The former Indian off-spinner said that many fan accounts supporting the two Indian icons are not real and even called them ‘bots’.

He suggested that these paid campaigns often popularize certain topics and emphasized that the true CSK fans express genuine emotions for Jadeja.

Ashwin’s comment came amid reports that Jadeja could be traded along with Sam Curran to the Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Sanju Samson. He said what Jadeja offers – electric fielding, left-arm spin bowling and strong finishing – is irreplaceable for the CSK.

Ravichandra Ashwin said in a video on his YouTube channel, “Maybe it’s because of the algorithm, and mainly several players are getting more fandom because of the social media campaigns. But that doesn’t mean the real fans aren’t talking about that. All I’ve seen on Instagram for the past few days is about how they all feel bad about Jadeja leaving the franchise.”

The former CSK icon added, “Even in the comment section of the videos, people are taking advantage of us, as if we had traded out Jadeja. They are telling me to ask CSK to stop the trade. So all the love is coming out. In this generation, many people write on social media, but they have no faces; we cannot identify them. Sometimes it is a campaign; sometimes these are bots. The true fans definitely feel sorry for Jadeja. He is not replaceable for what he brings to the table.”

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed his surprise over Ravindra Jadeja’s possible exit from CSK. The former Indian all-rounder said this move feels unusual for CSK as they are known for trusting and sticking with their players. He noted that news of Jadeja’s potential trade has left fans heartbroken, with many in the franchise not wanting to let him go.

The former off-spinner believes that CSK’s strength has always been its loyalty and stability, having built its identity over the years under the leadership of MS Dhoni. He added: “I actually watch it (the trade) over and over again, and I think CSK probably missed a trick.”

However, Ashwin claimed that it is “very, very difficult” if the deal falls through at this stage unless “Jadeja or Samson change their minds, or franchises make a U-turn.” He concluded by saying: “In my opinion, this is a chalk and cheese trade. In many ways, RR got the hole they needed to fill, and CSK got the face they wanted.”
