Pakistani opener Muneeba Ali was involved in a controversial run-out during the World Competition 2025 in the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. The left -handed batter seemed to have ground her bat before the ball hit the stumps, but the referee ruled her, which caused debate.

Pakistan women suffered a defeat of 88 run against India in their second world cup match. They had limited the women in blue to 247 points. Muneeba Ali had to walk off the field and the coaching staff reacted unbelieving in the order of events. In the meantime, the Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, remained calm and composed during the incident.

What the laws say about the controversial run-out of Muneeba Ali

Former Australian cricket player Mel Jones explained why Muneeba Ali was handed out. She said the batter was not running or diving when her bat came from the fold.

According to Cricket Act 30.1.2, a seizure is considered safe when they run or dive and have a part of their bat grounded outside the popping fold. Muneeba was supposed to be from her ground when the stumps were hit because she did not ran or dived.

“Law of cricket 30.1.2. Battering will not be considered from her ground or diving to her ground and then, and part of her bat, the bat has been directed past the popping increase,” she said in the air.

“There is subsequent loss of contact between the ground and a part of her person or bat, or between the die and the person. So she did not run, she did not dive. And so because of that fact there was no running or diving; that is why she was spent,” Jones added.

India dismantles Pakistan in the World Cup competition for women

The World Cup competition between India Women and Pakistan women started controversy when the Worp was wrongly awarded to Pakistan. Fatima Sana called tails, but the mint landed on the heads.

Pakistan chased 248 and was out for 159 in 43 overs. Sidra Amin scored 81 of 106 balls, including nine four and one six. Kranti Goud was the choice of bowlers for India with figures of 3/20, while Deepi Sharma took three wickets and Sneh Rana two claimed, because India won an 88-run victory.
