Continuation of his diplomatic involvement, the Indian envoy of the American Vinay Mohan Kwatra met more American legislators to discuss “balanced trade tires” in the midst of tariff tensions between New Delhi and Washington.
Since 9 August 19, the Indian ambassador has met US senators and congress members, as revealed by his posts on social media.
Kwatra met Rep Claudia Tenney, member of Ways and Means Committee and House Intelligence Committee, on Friday (local time) and had an in -depth conversation about the importance of honest and balanced trade tires.
“We discussed the bilateral relations between the US india and the importance of fair and balanced trade tires,” Kwatra posted on social media.
Kwatra said that he emphasized the “growing hydrocarbon purchases of India from the US as an important part of India’s energy security” in the meeting with Rep Tenney.
In another such meeting, Kwatra had a productive conversation with Rep Jonathan L Jackson, a member of the Democrats of the Foreign Affairs Committee House and the Democrats of the House Agriculture Committee.
“We discussed our trade and economic partnership. Thank him for his support for the bilateral relations between the US and India,” he said.
Kwatra also informed REP Haley Stevens, Congressman of Michigan, of the important hydrocarbon purchases of India from the US.
“We have discussed the bilateral economic partnership of the VS India, including our honest and balanced trade involvement,” Kwatra posted on social media after meeting Stevens, who is also a ranking of the Subcommittee Research and Technology Subcommentee and the Science Committee Democrats.
He also spoke about “India’s important hydrocarbon purchases from the US as an important part of India’s energy breach” in meeting Stevens.
The Indian envoy also thanked her for her steadfast support to the relationship between India and the US.
The series of meetings comes in the midst of tension in relations between India-US after the US President Donald Trump had imposed a total of 50 percent on India. This includes 25 percent for the purchases of Russian oil from New Delhi that will come into effect from 27 August.
India defends the purchase of Russian crude oil and has maintained that his energy supply is being driven by national importance and market dynamics.
India turned to the purchase of Russian oil that was sold at a discount after Western countries had imposed sanctions on Moscow and his supplies in February 2022 about his invasion of Ukraine present.
