US President Donald Trump posted a video on his social media handles who showed what he claimed was an American air raid that killed dozens of Houthi hunters in Yemen.
The black and white images seemed to have been filmed from a drone or military aircraft and shows a group of people who gathered near a road, characterized by a targeting cross.
Moments later a large explosion is seen, which sends thick smoke. The video then cuts to wider aerial photos of the explosion site, nearby vehicles and a crater left by the strike.
Trump endorsed the post: “These Houthis gathered for instructions about an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by this Houthis!” He added: “They will never sink our ships again!”
This week Houthi officials and media sales points have reported several deaths in dozens of strikes they blamed for the United States. The group supported by Iran has said that his strikes on commercial and military ships are a reaction to the current military operations of Israel in Gaza.
According to Houthi-connected media, American air strikes alone killed at least 67 people throughout the country in the past week. Multiple strikes have focused on important areas, including Hodeida, Saada, Sanaa and Hajjah, reportedly killed with four people at a water project location in the Hodeida district in Mansuriyah.
The US Army has not confirmed whether senior Houthi leaders were killed, although messages of leaked signal interviews and public comments from the Trump administration officials suggest that a figure of the rocket command of the rebel group was one of the goals.
White House Pers Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Tuesday: “Iran is incredibly weakened as a result of these attacks and we have seen that they have eliminated Houthi leaders.”
“They removed critical members who launched strikes on naval vessels and on commercial ships and this operation will not stop until the freedom of navigation in this region has been restored.”
She also confirmed that more than 200 strikes had been performed on Tuesday alone.
The Pentagon also announced further implementations in the region, including extra squadrons and A-10 Thunderbolt Iis of the Idaho Air National Guard. More than 300 kites from Idaho’s 124th Fighter Wing have now become a member of the campaign.
