Vancouver will host Canada’s first-round tie with Brazil in Davis Cup qualifiers, Tennis Canada announced Thursday.
The best-of-five competition will take place Feb. 6-7 at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Center on the University of British Columbia campus.
The winner will advance to the second qualifying round for the international men’s tournament, scheduled for September 2026.
Ninth-placed Canada heads into the clash with No. 18 Brazil having won 10 of their last 12 home games. The two teams last met in 2007 in the Group I Americas stage, with hosts Brazil winning 3-1.
The Canadians have won their last three Davis Cup matches in Vancouver, including wins over Spain and Italy en route to the semifinals in 2013, and most recently a 3-2 win over Japan in 2015.
Canada advanced to the qualifiers for the 2026 tournament after a 4-0 win over Israel in World Group I in September. The tie in Halifax was played at an empty venue amid protests against Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank.
Canada won its only Davis Cup title in 2022, beating Australia in the final. They were relegated to the qualifying pool after losing 2–0 to Germany in the 2024 quarter-finals, before dropping to World Group 1 level after a 3–2 defeat to Hungary in the first round of 2025 qualifying.
