Spurs have approached Liverpool in a deal to sign the club’s vice-captain, with Robertson out of contract this summer and out of favor this season.
The Scotland international has only started four games in the Premier League and is reportedly open to a move as he looks forward to regular playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup this summer.
Liverpool are willing to grant the 31-year-old’s wish, while they receive a small fee from Spurs for a player whose contract expires in six months. There is talk of a transfer fee of around £5 million.
However, Van Dijk said he wants Robertson to stay at Anfield. Liverpool lost in Bournemouth on Saturday evening, the club’s fifth consecutive league match without a win.
Speaking about Robertson, Van Dijk said he is against losing an ‘important member’ of the dressing room.
“He is my vice-captain,” said Van Dijk when asked about Robertson’s possible departure.
