Speak through Liverpoolfc.com In his program notes for Merseyside Derby No.247, Virgil van Dijk made clear how much the opportunity means.

“I don’t have to say too much about what this game means for everyone who is connected to the club,” Our captain wrote.

“Derby matches are always special – My Liverpool – debut came in this competition – and we are all really looking forward to welcoming Everton to Anfield, while we try to get another positive result and continue our strong start of the season.”

The 34-year-old Center-Back, which established the Midweek Champions League collision with a towering 92nd minute head, praised the character shown in the 1-0 win in Burnley and the 3-2 triumph over Atletico Madrid.

“Many of our late winners have been made this season, but the most important thing for us is that we continue to show the willingness to continue, continue to work hard and to continue to believe that good things will happen,” “ he added.

Van Dijk also spoke about the integration of new signing sessions, in which Alexander Isak made his debut against Atletico and connects with Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Mo Salah in attack.

“Hopefully we will see the connection between him, Hugo, Florian, Mo and the rest will continue to grow. There is certainly a lot to be enthusiastic about.”

The Dutch defender emphasized the importance of intensity against the blues, which made a steady start of their campaign.

“We have to be ready from the very first whistle. We have to compete, work hard without the ball and try to show our quality with the ball.”

With two late victories that have already been secured last week, our leader has challenged both players and supporters to rise again.

“I hope to hear you all in full voice again. It might be an early kick-off, but I know you will make Anfield as loudly as possible. Let’s make it a derby day to remember.”

This is just a few days after Jamie Carragher van Dijk described as one of Liverpool’s greatest defenders ever, a feeling reinforced by the newest rally from the captain.

We will hope for more target score and rescuing heroic deeds from our captain on Saturday afternoon, although this time it would be good if the opposition bench did not act as badly as we saw in our last outing.
