Newcastle loses the wounded player for no less than eight games

Newcastle United can be without a new summer signing for no fewer than eight games after an international injury.

Yoane Wissa finally forced his Newcastle by moving this summer before the transfer window was closed.

It was a step for the Democratic Republic of Congo striker that he had chased and one that he was determined by pushing.

Wissa published a statement, such as Alexander Isak in Newcastle, that Brentford had promised him a great movement that they apparently were on.

It eventually landed his switch, but his bees in the process in the eyes of many supporters who would not forgive him for the way he had set his business.

Newcastle Loss Yoane Wissa for eight games

The magpies hoped to have Wissa available immediately, but he and the rest of the team went to international service a week or so ago and that is where the problems started for the 29-year-old.

Wissa suffered a knee injury through the match on his side against Senegal, even after scoring in that draw and against South Sudan four days earlier.

It meant that the attacker missed a big match against Barcelona in the Champions League match last night, as well as their Premier League outing against Wolves, which they won 1-0 thanks to the new signature Nick Woltemade.

Wissa could now miss another five games before the next break for international competitions, as well as those games that he probably does not connect with the team to ensure that he is suitable for the next round of Premier League matches.

Manager Eddie Howe was frustrated by the problems with his new boy, but the Englishman has received a pragmatic approach.

Unable to do something about the injury other than managing, Howe has sworn to work around it and look at other players to come forward.

What Eddie Howe said about Wissa’s injury

Howe said: “Yes, it is impactful, and of course everyone wanted to be Yoane fit. Personally I would have done nothing else, we did everything we could as a football club to try to take care of Yoane.

“Like every football player, when they leave and they have international duty, you have no control over the minutes they play and unfortunately he gets injured. Now we just have to deal with that situation as well as possible.

“We think he comes to the next international break, which is a kind of race to be fit for that Brighton game, and hopefully he can make it.”

Asked if he was frustrated by Congo’s handling of the player, Howe replied: “Again, it is one that I have no control over, so I try not to give it too much emotion.

“Of course we just destroyed that he is injured, but nothing in our control. We just have to try to let him fit in the safest way as quickly as possible, and then he has a major role to play in our season.”

Newcastle hopes to have Wissa back before the October 18 match against Brighton, but even that can still come too fast.
