Position Summary
The Pro Player Valuation Specialist will play a key role in the Pro Acquisitions department and support the department focus of evaluating and recommending professional player transactions. The Pro Player Valuation Specialist will supplement and refine the internal valuations of professional players using a variety of information sources, sources from other departments and baseball insights.

Primary responsibilities

  • Act as the in-house expert for a particular group of professional players, and write and maintain up-to-date reports on those players
  • Brainstorm and propose actionable transaction recommendations
  • Gather and apply new sources of information to improve player evaluations
  • Use baseball knowledge to understand the relationships that determine player value
  • Understand and effectively complement automated player rating systems
  • Participate in setting priorities and contributing ideas to quantitative valuation research
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to leverage insights relevant to player evaluation
  • Pursue learning opportunities to increase player awareness of evaluation concepts

  • An understanding of modern approaches to evaluating baseball players, including industry trends and available sources of information
  • Ability to integrate information from different sources and convey insights succinctly
  • Passion for learning and the ability to understand stakeholder insights across the organization
  • Basic knowledge of quantitative modeling methods and database queries

Compensation
The expected annual salary for this position is €60,000 – €90,000 per year. Actual pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, certifications and other organizational requirements. The starting salaries for new employees are often not at the top of the applicable salary scale.
