Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Monday to rename 11 places in Haridwar, Dehradun, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts in the Heervestates, which causes a fierce recoil of opposition parties.

The decision, which aims to honor Hindu gods, mythological figures and prominent BJP and RSS leaders, has received sharp criticism from leaders such as the Samajwadi party chef Akhilesh Yadav and Congress Member Imran Masood, who accused the government of the government’s government, accused the government of the government’s government.

“The names of different places are changed in accordance with the public sentiment and Indian culture and heritage. They are named after large men who have contributed to Indian culture and the preservation,” said the Chief Minister during the announcement.

The BJP-LED Uttarakhand Government has decided that aurangzebpur in Haridwar Will Be Renamed Shivaji Nagar, Gajiwali Will Be Changed To Arya Nagar, Chandpur To Jyotiba Phue Nagar, Mohammadpur Jat Tawnpur Jat Kursali to Ambedkar Nagar, Idrishpur to Nandpur and Akbarpur Fajalpur to Vijaynagar.

In the Dehradun district, Miyanwala will be changed to Ramjiwala, Pirwala in Kesari Nagar, Chandpur Khurd in Prithviraj Nagar and Abdullapur in Dakshnagar. Just like Weeee, Nawabi Road in Nainital District will be renamed Atal Marg and Pancakki-Iti Marg to Guru Golwalkar Marg.

Sultanpur Patti in the Udham Singh Nagar district will be changed to Kaushalyapuri.

The decision has caused a significant political debate. Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav mocked the renovation effort, pushes, “Uttarakhand ka name bhi uttar pradesh-2 kar dijiye” (Why not rename the name Uttarakhand as Uttar Pradesh-2?).

Congress Member of Parliament Imran Masood also weighed the controversy and accused the prevailing BJP of focusing on name changes instead of tackling the real problems of the state. “Uttarakhand is in urgent streets. These leaders surrender to the politics of renaming. They do nothing but change names. The state is struggling with unbridled corruption, and our youth migrates. But these people are only concerned with renaming places,” said Masood.
