The pressure was in the national team of the American men to win Japan on Tuesday evening and the Mauricio Pochettino team answered the call.

Alex Zendejas and Folarin Balogun both scored goals while the USMNT defeated a rotated Japanese team with 2-0 on LoWower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio. Christian Pulisic and Max Arfsten have registered assists in the result, and goalkeeper Matt Freese ended the game with a shutout with five save.

It is the first victory of the USMNT over a top 25-arranged team since the beating of Mexico with 2-0 in the 2024 Concacaf Nations League final and the result also marked the 10th victory of Pochettino who was in charge of the program.

Freese was early on the test and denied the dangerous cross of Junya Ito van Nestelen in the top left corner. Ito waited for a Japanese teammate to finish the cross, but instead came near the celebration of a breakthrough goal.

Balogun was refused twice by Japanese goalkeeper Keisuke Osako, who came close to finding the back of the net. Pulisic’s Doorbleekpas led to Balogun’s couple of powerful efforts, but Osako has rejected both to maintain the score content.

However, the growing pressure of the USMNT would lead to a lead in the first half in the 30th minute. Arfsten created space on the left flank before he supplied a cross in the box, allowing Zendejas’ one -off volley to fall into the top left corner.

It marked the second international goal of Zendejas.

Freese held the USMNT in the front with a pointed white save in the 35th minute and denied the diverted effort of ITO in the middle of the box.

After he was refused by Osako early in the second half, Pulisic would have a say in the second goal of the USMNT, Balogun on a 2-0 lead. The Upfield pass of the 26-year-old demolition behind the backline of Japan, allowing Balogun to drill a low shot over Osako and in the right corner.

It was the first goal of Balogun since the Copa America from 2024.

Replacers from Jack McGlynn and Damion Downs were refused the efforts to add the score with the crossbar that stretched McGlynn’s Left Curler and Osako to reject the potential first international goal of Downs.

However, the USMNT would persist for his first victory since the semi -final of the Gold Cup, who claims a second victory of all time in Japan.

After a window 1-0 September, the Americans will return to Ecuador and Australia in October in October.
