The USA scored 4/0 on day four of the ITF Masters world team championships in Croatia. The men’s and women’s 85 teams each had a bye today.

W75 won 21 against Australia, winning both singles points before dropping the doubles point in a match tiebreak. Liane Bryson won at number two singles, and Gwenda Ward won one at number one singles. Judy Dixon and Liane Bryson played doubles. They advance to the semi-finals to be played tomorrow.

The 80s ladies won the first of their two round robin play-off matches, beating Great Britain 2/1. They won both singles matches, but it wasn’t easy. Betty Wachob split sets and then won the match tiebreaker 11–9! (Never doubted Betty!)

The men’s 75 also won 2/1, winning at number two singles and falling to number one singles to take the doubles point in straight sets. They played against Australia. Tony Dawson, who lives in Texas and previously represented the US, won the number one singles point for Australia. Marc Maxo (2) and David Fish (1) played both doubles and singles.

The 80s men moved comfortably above Great Britain at 3/0, behind the straight wind of David Dollins and Jimmy Parker in the singles and Fred Drilling/Jody Rush in the doubles.
