Tonight’s fight card was headlined by a key men’s flyweight bout, pitting Brandon Royval against Manel Kape. The bout proved to be a coming out event for the Angolan-born Portuguese fighter in Manel Kape. After a competitive opening few minutes, ‘Starboy’ found a home for a big right hand that sent Brandon Royval crashing to the canvas. Kape quickly followed with some heavy ground and pound shots, forcing the referee to step in and stop the attack. It was an impressive victory for Manel, and one that could lead to a title shot in his next Octagon appearance.
UFC Vegas 112 was headlined by a featherweight bout between Giga Chikadze and Kevin Vallejos. The fight resulted in a highlight reel knockout victory for ‘El Chino’, who put Giga away with a spinning fist followed by some brutal elbows in round 2.
After tonight’s conclusion eventUFC officials announced at the post-fight press conference that four fighters would take home performance bonuses.
Fight of the Night: Heavyweight fighters Steven Asplund and Sean Sharaf have each taken home $50,000 for their exciting war on tonight’s UFC Vegas 112 preliminary fight card. Asplund ultimately won the match via TKO in the second round (see that here).
