UFC Vegas 111 winner mocks those who say TKO win was controversial | BJPenn.com

UFC Vegas 111 is in the books and the main event winner is not happy with the reception he has received.

Gabriel Bonfim took center stage last Saturday during the UFC Apex. He went one-on-one with Randy Brown in the headliner of UFC Vegas 111. Bonfim caught Brown with a knee that dropped him to the canvas in the second round. Referee Marc Smith had seen enough and called off the fight, but Brown wasn’t too happy with the stoppage.

Speaking to reporters during the UFC Vegas 111 post-fight press conference, Bonfim had a message for those who think there was controversy over the finish (h/t MMAfighting).

“He was asleep guys,” Bonfim said during the UFC Vegas 111 post-fight press conference. “He was unconscious. I saw his eyes were in the back of his head.”

Bonfim has been on the rise lately and has won four consecutive games. He revealed that a loss to a seasoned veteran at the end of 2023 was a wake-up call.

“You can see the loss [Nicolas] Dalby changed me completely,” said Bonfim. “I know what I had to do. I had to level up. You see what I’m doing now.

“The only thing you can expect from me in 2026 is [being] to the top 5 before I become champion of this weight class.”

Bonfim entered the fight with Brown as the #14 ranked UFC welterweight. At the very least, his place in the rankings remains intact and he may even rise if the list is updated.

As for who is next, Bonfim has his sights set on Colby Covington. While some were surprised by the call during his post-fight interview, Bonfim explained to media members that he thinks Covington will continue to uphold the welterweight division for guys like him. Time will tell if this is a match. UFC officials are interested in booking.
