The Armenian standout defeated Hooker from the opening bell, landing some big punches and kicks before taking the fight to the ground. Although ‘The Hangman’ survived the opening stages, things did not improve for the veteran in round two. Arman Tsarukyan once again took the fight to the floor, where he unloaded some solid ground and pound before finally locking in an arm-triangle choke that ended the fight. Following his dominant win, Arman called out reigning UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.
The UFC Qatar event was headlined by a pivotal welterweight fight that pitted Belal Muhammad against Ian Machado Garry. The fight proved to be a competitive three-round affair. Garry managed a number of solid leg kicks during the 15-minute fight, one of which temporarily sent the former welterweight champion to the canvas. Although Belal Muhammad managed to sneak in some decent shots, he couldn’t find a way to get ‘The Future’ on the ground and was ultimately wrong-footed. It was a good win for Garry, but probably not one that will earn him a title shot.
Following today’s conclusion eventUFC officials announced at the post-fight press conference that four fighters would take home performance bonuses.
