Wanderlei Silva’s very unnecessary trip in the world of boxing has ended with a circus-like scene and an annoying knockout.
Even worse, who knocked out after the fight was over and seemed to be not landed by a recognized warrior, but by a guard or possibly member of his opponent’s camp.
The 49-year-old Silva, who had reported long-term, debilitating concussion-like symptoms, while the recently regulated anti-trust right of the UFC unfolded, competed at Spartan Fight Night 2 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. There he was confronted with the renowned Brazlian Boxer Acelino Freitas. Although Freitas had the experience advantage, Silva was the much larger hunter, although he had not participated since a loss of 2018 to disaster Jackson in MMA.
What unfolded in the ring, as is the case with so many circus-like famous and influencer boxing competitions, was embarrassing for all involved. Silva, from its depth, made an error after error, which led to “the Bijl murderer” being disqualified. These errors include a headbump in the fourth round, followed by more and three points deduction before the DQ.
That should have been the end. Instead, a fight burst out, recorded by several parties that film ring side. With Silva who entered the fight, he was eventually caught unprepared by a blow thrown by a man who wore a suit – and it was light. Members of the Silva team could drag the UFC legend back to his corner.

Wanderlei Silva was a GM in the failed Global Fight League, which was announced as a launch in 2025. In 2018 and again in 2022 he tried to move to politics in Brazil, but was not chosen after walking for delegate (in the Brazilian federal legislative body).
