UFC Legend Says Dana White ‘Preparing for Disappointment’ Ahead of White House Fight Announcements

UFC CEO Dana White and the matchmakers are in the final stages of preparing for the upcoming card at the White House. White, who formally announced plans for the event last summer, recently made the bold prediction that the card will be the “most watched UFC event ever.”

While no headliner has yet been announced for the upcoming White House card, a possible proposed main event is a lightweight title unifier between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison, who was set to welcome Amanda Nunes back to UFC 324, is plotting a return for the card against the former two-division champion.

Many superstar names have shown keen interest in fighting on the card. Despite White’s big promises, one UFC legend believes his predictions won’t come true due to the promotion’s lack of fame.

Matt Brown: Dana White, UFC doesn’t have the stars for the White House card

In a recent episode of The fighter versus the writerUFC legend Matt Brown predicted a less than optimistic assessment of the upcoming White House card.



‘It’s hard to imagine that you’re not [setting yourself up for disappointment],” Brown said of White.

“Because they don’t have the stars they used to have, and Conor isn’t fighting for them. I don’t care what anyone says, what he says, I don’t care what Dana says.” [White] say. They use him to promote it and use his name to get the word out. He doesn’t fight for that shit.

“I think the even bigger problem is that they can fight some pretty important, good fights, but what about the Americans?” Brown continued on white. “It’s in the White House. That’s the problem, they have so few Americans [stars]. That’s a problem. Unless they just go ahead and say, you know what? F***, whether it’s American or not, we’re just making it international, and that’s what I think you almost have to do, and the UFC is an international sport.”

White recently claimed that the White House line-up was “final” and that announcements are expected to be made in the coming weeks. The event is scheduled for June 14 on the South Lawn of the White House.
