Former UFC Ladies Stromweight Champion Jessica Andrade looked to get back on the right track against the Mexican-Canadian striking Loopy Godinez on UFC 319 in Chicago.
Andrade had fallen in May in Canada’s Jasmine Jasudavicius on UFC 315, he second consecutive defeat, one that dropped her recent record to 2-5. Godinez had picked up a victory over Julia Polastri in March to make her own two-fighter slip.
In the fight, Jessica Andrade returned to 115 pounds for the first time since UFC 300.
Early in the fight, Andrade was happy to walk down Loopy and ate various strikes for her efforts. The pure lack of respect for the power of Godinez was a gamble; In the meantime, Godinez mixed in legs and let her puncture go. The round played on the feet, both women had their moments.
In the second place, the fight went to the ground, Lopy and got some time on top, Andrade who forced her was standing up again. Back in the standup, Loopy shot her left hand more than once and had success with it. As the frame progressed, Andrade found a home for her right, who supported Godinez. Andrade went to the body and landed his own low stairs. Although it was an area where she would probably have the lead again, Godinez seemed to have pushed the thoughts of a Takedown until the last 30 seconds. Then she shot in explosively, but Andrade was able to fight it off and stand, back against the fence.
Andrade opened around three wing hooks of her hips, left and right and then stopped a Takedown attempt. As she had during the fight, Andrade Godinez continued to walk down. No successful removals in the fifth round, only a filthy stand -up battle with both women who land. Godinez was a combination behind in the last minute with a knee that seemed to connect. The couple exchanged straight to the horn when Godinez landed a Takedown that would probably not count, as late as it did.
The jury members scored it for Loopy Godinez after three rounds, in what was an action -packed scrap.
