Horse Racing New Brunswick will host the lucrative New Brunswick Breeders stakes at Connell Park Raceway in Woodstock, NB on Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of the seven-dash race card.
There are two harness racing divisions of the stakes for two-year-old pacers with a filly division and a stallion and gelding division, both of which carry a $15,000 purse.
Among the fillies, the favorite in the morning line is Going For Blood, a daughter of first-year sire Blood money for trainer and driver Kenny Arsenault. She earned more than $37,000 during her freshman campaign.
Lady Spencer, a daughter of Lazarus N will look to upset local owner and trainer favorite Catherine Davies, ridden by Sam Hodgin. She rode light, but took a win in 2:04.3.
In the colt division it is a much broader division, with Fire And Blood and Tiziano the two favorites to go into the $15,000 stakes.
Fire And Blood is also a first-year sire Blood money and New Brunswick is owned by Dr. Mitch Downey from Saint John, NB. He will be driven by Mike Downey and has earned more than $25,000 in nine starts.
Tiziano, another son of Blood Money, has also made over $25,000 and will have Mary Clare MacDonald in the driver’s seat for his connections.
Kenny Arsenault will overtake Kapueno from post five and the son of Better than cheddar has won four of his eight races and earned more than $18,000 in 2025.
There is also a $2000 overnight top class featuring Golf Cup and Saucer Consolation winner Nuttin But Finesse and Mike Downey from post four. His biggest threats are the consistent What’s Inthe Esky A and Colin Decourcey.
Race one of the seven at noon starts at 1:00 PM. As always, free parking and free admission to the live racing at Connell Park Raceway for race fans.
