I have closely followed Marti Cifuentes and his previous managerial period at Sandefjord Fotball. Being present at virtually every home game he officiated for this team makes you start to think back. He is testing his new environment.
During his time in Sandefjord he made decisions that were far from predicted and started playing against certain players to test the waters with very strange selections. He did this to understand what his next step should be. He will give players the opportunity to take action. They can be part of the panel. In a month or two he will take this to a stricter and better situation.
At this point his selections and use of players create a strange scenario. He is now on a shoestring budget and cannot achieve the results he so desperately needs. Believe me, he will turn this around quickly and in time. The team will rise above that and rack up wins after wins.
It is easy for all experts to identify every movement. They say this is wrong and that is right. They never get the chance to implement their theories in real life. But at this stage we think Marti Cifuentes is in the early stages. He tests his environment. This includes not only the players, but everything around him.
In the past he could select players to set an example. Sometimes he played players with a purpose. This was done instead of putting a winning formula on the table. He could also leave a club if he finds a better environment elsewhere. Marti Cifuentes left Sandefjord Fotball because they had different ideas. He himself could not agree with the borders and left to join Aalborg.

The ideas we are currently seeing seem far from what we had hoped. We hoped to see a system and player material that is suitable for the playing style. We believe that Marti Cifuentes is pushing his entire environment to the limit to address the issues and struggles we are currently seeing.
This indicates that he may not have been involved as he would have liked. He may not have participated in certain players’ decisions to join, leave, or whatever. To gain more power, he must address certain problems. He could do this by showing control. He is completely in charge of one area: the selection of his first XI.
If he operates as he has in the past, we have to be patient. It may take some time before the ultimate change becomes visible. Alternatively, he could decide to find another solution.
One thing is certain. This man is not afraid of anything and makes decisions. Hopefully these decisions are in the best interests of the club. We have to see what will happen in the next transfer window. This will help us understand what is going on right now and what the direction will be for the future.
