Will Osula almost joined Eintracht Frankfurt on deadline day.
However, the summer transfer window ended with the Danish striker still at Newcastle United.
A transfer fee totaling almost £30 million was reportedly agreed, but at the last minute the German club wanted to seal the deal with an initial loan, which Newcastle United were unwilling to go through with.
Eddie Howe has since said he was relieved Will Osula’s move ultimately fell through, especially as Yoane Wissa suffered such a serious injury before even getting the chance to play for United.
However, the news from Germany is that another attempt will be made to bring Will Osula to Germany in the January transfer window.
Sport Bild has now reported that there are now two Bundesliga clubs hoping to sign the 22-year-old.
As well as Eintracht Frankfurt still hoping to sign the United striker, German media say their information is that Stuttgart are also interested.
Newcastle United, of course, signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart at the end of the summer transfer window and although they have made an excellent start to the season, Stuttgart are struggling for goals. They are fourth in the Bundlesliga but have scored just fourteen goals in nine league games, fewer goals than any other club in the top eight of the table.
Interesting to see what happens with Will Osula in January. If both Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa are fully fit and in form, the Danish striker will probably not get many opportunities. Would Newcastle United then consider selling, if the right kind of offer were made that would help them sign a target(s) of their own, or perhaps even loan out Will Osula to get more first-team football to aid his development?
