History fans must keep their phones close by for a special TV series that will be broadcast tonight with extra augmented reality.

7 Wonders of the Ancient World will transport viewers with a simple QR code Each episode to scan on virtual and compelling experiences supplied by Snapchat.

People will be able to “explore” world-famous old sites in the Mediterranean and the Middle East from the comfort of their living room.

This includes the large pyramid of Giza, the Mausoleum in Halicarnassus, the hanging gardens of Babylon and the statue of Zeus in Olympia.

The show is organized by the renowned historian Bettany Hughes.

“The past is a hometown, a place that is relevant to all of us,” she said.
