With Corey Callahan again at the wheel for trainer David Wiest, Tuis Star took off from post 5 and took out Suburban Lady (driven by Troy Beyer) to control splits of :30.1, 1:00.2 and 1:30.3. The daughter of EL Platinum-Tui turned on the jets through a closing section of :28.4, sprinting to a career-best time of 1:59.2 miles and setting 11 lengths ahead of Belle’ Natania (Trae Porter), who narrowly held off Suburban Lady for second.
In her five DSBF wins, Tuis Star has bested her competition by a combined height of 36-1/4. She has earned $98,120 in her career.
Emerys Angel also claimed a win in her preliminary divisions, recording a lifetime best win of 2:00.4 in the first section.
Art Stafford Jr. secured first place with the Top Flight Angel-Judy Luns filly through a quarter of :29.2, made easy work of first-over Rainingrainbows (Allan Davis) in the far turn and accelerated home in :29 to hold off pocket rival Wolfpack One (Beyer) by 1-1/4 lengths. Sheas Bluestone (Mark A. King) rallied slightly for third, another seven lengths behind.
Trainer Stacy Johnson-Stafford is co-owner with Wyatt Starkey of Emerys Angel, now a two-time winner with $38,800 in earnings.
Tuis Star and Emerys Angel lead the eight qualifiers for next Monday’s series championship (November 24) and are joined by: Wolfpack One, Suburban Lady, Belle’ Natania, Sheas Bluestone, Rainingrainbows and Angelic Valentine.
Novice male trotters take center stage at Bally’s Dover on Tuesday (November 18) taking part in a pair of $20,000 second round events, tabbed as the first and fourth races on the 15-race programme. First post is 4:30 PM (EST).
