Trump defended his choice to send in more national guard troops, referring to De La Wildfires.

Donald Trump has claimed that Los Angeles would “burn on the ground” if he had not sent a national guard troops to suppress the protests against the ice attacks.

The president shared his thoughts about his controversial decision to send the army to suppress the demonstration, referring to the La Wildfires who destroyed parts of the city earlier this year.

“If I had not sent the last three nights to Los Angeles to Los Angeles, that beautiful and large city would now burn on the ground, just like 25,000 houses burned on the ground in LA, an incompetent governor and mayor,” Trump said about truth social, according to Cnn.

In a movement condemned by Governor of California Gavin Newsom, Trump initially deployed 2,000 national guard troops in Los Angeles. He also activated 700 Marines to go to the city to further check the protest zones. Since then he has authorized 2,000 more National Guard troops to be deployed in the state.

Newsom formally requested that Trump removes the troops from the area, and prefer to give it the state enforcement of the state to handle the situation.

“I formally asked the Trump government to withdraw their illegal deployment of troops in Los Angeles County and to bring it back to my order,” wrote Newsome. “We had no problem until Trump became involved. This is a serious violation of the sovereignty of the state – use tensions while they draw resources where they are actually needed. Input the order. Return control to California.”

The news exit also confirmed that protesters are still clashing with the police. However, much of the protest has been concentrated in the city center since it started at the weekend. The outer parts of the city are relatively unaffected.

Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles also condemned Trump’s reaction.

“A test case for what happens when the federal government arrives and takes away the authority from the state or away from the local government,” Bass said during a press conference. “I don’t think our city should be used for an experiment.”

Trump had warned about his plans to scale up deportation efforts. His plans resulted in holding people without papers after immigration hearing, which led to the protests against the raids.

“If immigration -raids had not happened here, we would not have the condition we made last night,” Bass told CNN’s The Situation RoomReferring to the increase in violence during the protests.
