has crushed his Biden-era counterpart, for driving up vehicle prices and the latter’s policies towards electric vehicles.

Biden let vehicle inflation run wild, says Sean Duffy

published By the Detroit Free Press on Monday, Duffy shared that the previous Biden administration had used policies to force people to buy electric vehicles, adding that the administration was “letting vehicle price inflation run wild,” reporting that prices had risen 20% in four years.

He also criticized the previous administration’s “backdoor EV mandate,” which Duffy said cost automakers and workers billions of dollars. Duffy also said that Americans were holding on to older cars because prices for newer vehicles were high. “The average age of a car on American roads is 13 years,” Duffy said.

Duffy touts affordability, choice with new CAFE standards

Speaking of the new Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards that have been rolled back by the President Donald TrumpDuffy called it a move that would increase “customer choice and vehicle options” and reduce the cost of a new car by $1,000, as well as create more jobs and investment.

He also said the policy forced automakers to make cars for maximum regulatory benefits, at the expense of choice and style, Duffy said. He added that the DOT’s “Freedom Means Affordable Cars” initiative will “increase safety on America’s roads,” Duffy said, praising the “anti-crash” technology but not elaborating further.

Trump’s Kei Car Endorsement, Gavin Newsom Slams CAFE Standards

The news comes as Trump recently approved regulations that would allow manufacturers to produce smaller cars, such as Japan’s ‘Kei’ car segment, in the US, citing cars made by companies like And Honda Motor Co. Ltd. in Japan and South Korea, touting the vehicles as a “really fun” affordable option for consumers.

On the other hand, the governor of California (D) criticized the administration’s decision to roll back CAFE standards, saying the decision would cause China to overtake the U.S. in electric vehicles and mean the average American would pay more for fuel.
