The promising two-year-old from Roll The Dice Racing Guesthouse made an immediate impression at the Caulfield Heath trials on Thursday, producing a composed and stylish performance that marked him as one of Victoria’s more interesting youngsters heading into the summer.
A son of the Interior, Guesthouse has been given a patient foundation, and co-trainer Michael Kent Jnr was clearly pleased with the colt’s professionalism and improvement.
“Beautiful piece of work, he’s got a lot of talent, he’s a very fast customer and we did a lot of work to get him to harness his energy and I thought he rested himself really well this morning. From the outside he started well, he could probably be better but he came up quick without overdoing it. Relaxed well outside the leader while he had a nice pace and I think on the Heath track it’s not easy to cover ground and keep going so he showed good stamina to extend late and win beautifully.”
Guesthouse traveled smoothly off-speed before taking off late, showing both sharpness and stamina – an encouraging mix for a colt still learning his trade.
Although the stable is aware of the precociousness of two-year-olds, Kent Jr. not to outline the likely next step.
“Obviously two-year-olds are a day-to-day thing, but we would love to be back here next week for the Magic Millions 1100, which looks like a great race for him to start his career.”
The first signs are promising for Roll The Dice Racing. Guesthouse has shown the raw tools, temperament and now trial performance that suggest he could make an impact sooner or later.
One to keep an eye on is the @MickPriceRacing trained foal Guest House. 👀
