Tottenham Hotspur is said to have done an ‘approach’ to sign Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, according to the Spanish outlet Sport.
When Thomas Frank became the boss of LilyWhites earlier this summer, they had Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Yves Bissouma as the options in midfield.
Bissouma, however, has been associated with a move, while Gray and Bergvall are very young, so they need time to develop their career. Moreover, Bentancur has struggled with fitness problems.
That is why the Danish boss has decided to add reinforcements in the engine room by signing João Palhinha from Bayern Munich for a loan agreement. They also have an option to make the move permanent next year.
Now, Sport claim that Tottenham still wants a defensive midfielder, despite the already signing of Palhinha and Casado is on their wish list. They have already investigated the opportunity to sign him, but the player does not want to leave the Blaugrana and they do not allow him to leave unless they receive an ‘off-market’ offer.
The player is appreciated at around £ 26 million and has a contract until 2028 with the Catalan giants. However, there are questions about his playing time, because they already have Marc Bernal, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi for this position.

Casado is a technically gifted player and he would perfectly supplement Palhinha. He can play wire passes between the lines and also has an eye for passing long distance. However, he is not a physically strong player and can struggle with the intensity of the Premier League.
Although the Spaniard is a talented player and a high potential possession, he may not be the best option for Tottenham to strengthen the team.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the North -London club ultimately makes a concrete approach to secure its service before the end of this transfer window.
