After a disastrous start to his career at Liverpool, Alexander Isak is now speaking to the media in Sweden.

With Liverpool having lost their last three games, fans of the Anfield club are questioning the £130million striker.

With two months of the 2025/26 season now complete, Alexander Isak has scored just one goal for his new club, which came against second-tier side Southampton.

The pressure is now mounting on the striker after going on strike and forcing his way out of Newcastle United, especially as Hugo Ekitike has looked a much better bet for Liverpool so far.

Alexander Isak refused to speak to the media in Sweden when he was called up for the September internationals. The Liverpool striker was completely ineffective when he came on during a damaging 2-0 defeat to lowly Kosovo in a World Cup group qualifier.

Friday already looks like a match that Sweden must win, at home against Switzerland. With two rounds of the six group matches played, the Swiss are already five points ahead of Sweden and with only the top team in the group qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals, the pressure is also on Alexander Isak when it comes to his country.

The forward’s shameful and unprofessional behavior in refusing to train or play for Newcastle United this summer meant he was of no use in last month’s key opening games, with Sweden taking just one point from a possible six.

Alexander Isak has now spoken to the media in Sweden ahead of this must-win match against Switzerland on Friday night at the Strawberry Arena, with quotes via Football Channels – October 9, 2025:

“Tomorrow I will be available for 90 minutes if necessary.

“It’s been a month now and I have a lot more playing time and things have calmed down.

“I feel in a much better position now than last time [with Sweden].

“Great so far [at Liverpool].

“A great team and a city where the team has a good relationship with the fans.

“There is pressure on us [due to Sweden trailing Switzerland by five points already] and high expectations, but that is common in football, we have the same ambitions as the Swedish people.

“Hopefully we can meet expectations.

“I want to be a leader and feel a responsibility, both on and off the field.”
