Tottenham are preparing to make a formal bid to sign Bowen

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing to launch a formal proposal to sign West Ham United striker Jarrod Bowen, according to Spanish newspaper Transfers.

Since moving to the London Stadium from Hull City, the 28-year-old has developed into a talismanic figure, helping his side win the Conference League.

He has scored more than 20 goals in the last two consecutive seasons in the Premier League, and although the East London club have made a difficult start to this season, the Englishman has shown his qualities.

In ten appearances in all competitions this season, the West Ham star has scored three goals and two assists.

Now, Transfers claim that, following the purchase of Mohammed Kudus from the Hammers this summer, Tottenham are planning to raid the east London club again, with Bowen on their radar.

Bowen has a contract with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side until 2030, so they are in no rush to sell him, and Spurs are ‘preparing’ to launch a formal proposal worth around £52 million to complete the deal.

West Ham are currently languishing in the relegation zone, four points adrift of safety. So if they ultimately fail to maintain their top-flight status, they may have to sell him next summer.

The 28-year-old is a natural right winger, but can also provide cover in the centre-forward position if necessary. He is fast, strong, can dribble past opposing defenders in tight spaces, is efficient in creating chances for fellow attackers, can finish his chances and also works hard without the ball.

Tottenham currently have Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, Kudus, Brennan Johnson, Xavi Simons and Dejan Kulusevski as options to deploy on the wings. However, Kulusevski has been out injured since the start of the season.

Simons, on the other hand, feels more comfortable in the creative midfield position. Johnson and Odobert have failed to consistently show their best, while Tel is still young and needs time to develop.

Therefore, Spurs could do with adding another wide forward, and Bowen would be a smart signing if they ultimately manage to secure his services next year.
