Tom Wagner, owner of Birmingham City, supported his head coach Chris Davies in the midst of speculation about his future Sky Sports.
Birmingham City entered the 2025/26 campaign full of Momentum, after he had conquered the title of last season’s League One on record -breaking fashion.
BCFC wore that ambition in the transfer market and insured the signing sessions of Tommy Doyle, Kyogo Furuhashi and Demarai Gray, with the aim of strengthening their urge to a return to the play-off photo of the championship.
In practice, however, the team has difficulty finding consistency. Early victories against Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United offered real encouragement to the Davies side, but since mid -August they have only achieved one further victory.
A return of only five points from their last six championship outings has stuck Birmingham’s promotional offer and exerted the growing pressure on the position of their manager. Owner Tom Wagner, however, came out and supported his manager and spoke Sky Sports Prior to the draw to Wrexham on Friday evening.
Wagner said: “Chris has the complete and total confidence of the board. Period. Full stop.”
“We are focused on the process, and I am convinced that the process he pursues will pay dividends, and we will be competitors. The vast majority of people understand that.”
Wagner was one of the fans of Birmingham City on the Racecourse Ground. He must have been happy to see his side come back from 1-0 to secure a point, thanks Patrick Roberts’ first goal for the club.
Wagner learns from the last championship tint
Tom Wagner and Co made a very big mistake two years ago when they first took over the club. Popular manager John Eustace was fired, replaced by Wayne Rooney, who supervised the club’s drop into a relegation fight after participation in 5th place.
Rooney was then fired and replaced by Tony Mowbray, and in the end that led to the relegation of the club. Now in the championship, Wagner does not seem to do the same.
In Davies he has a good young coach who sometimes struggles. Although it is easy to see why the pressure is growing, given the team that is available for the BCFC boss.

The results must improve for Birmingham City, even after Davies’ support
Wagner’s support from Davies can illuminate the short -term pressure on him, but the boss of the blues will know that only better results can secure his future at St. Andrew’s. The BCFC chairman has made no secret of his elevated ambitions for the club, with the Sport Quarter project Standing as a clear declaration of intent.
Because the championship is wide open this season, it is a huge opportunity for someone to challenge for promotion. There is every chance that Wagner believes that this could be the city of Birmingham.
Given the investment in the past two years, there can still be a touch of higher expectations of the board. In a few weeks if the results do not improve, this speculation can return.
