Chris O’Connell, Alex de Minauraur and Aleksandar Vukic have joined Alexei Pofyrin in the third round of the Canadian Masters after winning victories in Toronto on Thursday (AEST).
O’Connell founded an All-Australian showdown with the minaur after he had refused former World No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4 4-6 6-2, while Vukic killed a Late Vechtback to Victory 6-3 6-7 (2) 6-3 against the British number 2 cameron.
After Tsitsipas had leveled the procedure in the second set, O’Connell dominated in the decisive set to stay alive in Toronto.
The 31-year-old goes for the second time to the last 32 on a Masters 1000 event, after he had previously reached the milestone in Miami in 2024.
The minaur is waiting for his countryman after he his North -American winning series continued. The recently crowned Washington Open Champion drove to a straight-sets victory over Argentinian Francisco Comesana, his sixth triumph.
The world no. 8 was dominant on the net and earned 10 net points for Comesanas one in the 6-4 6-2 victory. The Minaur wants to go one step further in Toronto than his most recent trip there two years ago when he was a finalist.
Earlier on Thursday, Vukic Norrie Van Streek arrived to book his place in the last 32. The 29-year-old won 21 points on Norrie’s second serve in the three-set battle, 11 more than Norrie registered.
The World No.99 corresponded to its deepest run there from 2023. A happy loser at that event defeated Vukic Bora Coric and Sebastian Korda to reach that stage for the first time on a Masters 1000 tournament.

Vukic, who returned to the Top 100 this week, ended the first set in 33 minutes after Norrie, the World No.39, saved four breaking points but still dropped his opening service game.
That turned out to be the only break of Serve about the first two sets when Norrie, Wimbledon 2025’s quarter finalist, brought the game into a tiebreak.
Vukic survived two breaking points in the fifth match of the last set, a moment when it turned out to be crucial after Norrie could not hold. The New South Welshman was one match out of the victory when a rain slowdown struck before he returned to finish the job.
He is then confronted with no. 7 Seed Frances Tiafoe.
In Montreal, McCartney Kessler turned out to be good for Maya Joint during the WTA 1000 event when she gathered from a set to defeat the Australian teenager. Joint now focuses her attention on the Open Cincinnati, which starts on August 7.
