Tom Aspinall has finished thinking of Jon Jones.
For more than a year, Aspinall has been waiting on the sidelines for a fight that would never come. Instead of signing on the dotted line for a long-awaited heavyweight unification collision, ‘Bones’ chose to give up his belt to reverse his decision less than two weeks later.
By that time, the UFC Aspinall had already promoted from interim to undisputed champion and went to work to set up his first defending defense. On October 25, Aspinall will put its gold on the line for the first time against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi.
Because Jones jumped back in the test pool, everyone immediately started asking if we could finally be ‘bone’ and Aspinall Square.
According to Aspinall, the answer is simple.
“Not interested,” Aspinall told Ariel Helwani a fight with Jon Jones. “And the world should not be interested either, because what is the point. Just false hope.”
Tom Aspinall does not think about anything other than Ciryl Gane
Instead, Aspinall puts all his focus on beating ‘Bon Gamin’ in Etihad Arena this fall.
“I have a fight, so I concentrate on that … … the next 10 weeks of my life I only think of Ciryl Gane and how he can beat him,” said Aspinall.
Aspinall is 8-1 under the UFC banner, his lonely loss comes through a freak injury in the first 15 seconds of a planned scrap against Curtis Blaydes in July 2022. The injury put on the shelf for a year a year, but he received his repayment two years later, ko’ing ‘razor in the opening of their opening of their opening.
