Go back to the low season 2022 and you will find one of the most connected NBA transactions in recent memory. That is when the Timberwolves Center Rudy Gobert from Jazz took over, where they spent four unprotected first round picks and a top five protected pick (the option for a 2026 first round pick wap will not be used unlikely by Utah). That trade was supposed to close the schedule of the Timberwolves of future young people, but that is not the case when it is currently looking at it.
The wolves have many talented young people despite the trade
Gobert, now 33 years old, is still a very good player, especially in the defensive end. He is also the third oldest player in the selection of Minnesota behind Mike Conley and Joe Ingles, with the last minimum playing time. Julius Randle is the only other player in thirty.
Looking at the schedule of the wolves, there is a lot of young talent with the potential to continue to develop into quality players. They have four choices of the last three concepts that should all play a role this season (some more than others).
Terrence Shannon Jr., 25, can be an impactful player in the offensive end. He showed the world that when he was inserted into the rotation during the final of the Western Conference.
Jaylen Clark, who turns 24 on October 13, was a pick in the second round in 2023 but missed his first year due to an injury. He shot 43.1% from a three -point range (albeit at only 51 attempts) last season, and it will be interesting to see if he can continue the sharpening fence with more volume.
Rob Dillingham, 20, did not play as much as expected in his Rookie year. In the matches, however, he received more than 20 minutes, he performed well. The 6-foot-1 Punwacht was an elite outdoor shot during his a year in Kentucky.
Joan Beringer, the 17th choice in the NBA design of 2025, will be on November 6, November 19. It is perhaps a bit unreasonable to believe that this season he can play a major role in a team with championship ambitions, because he doesn’t even have a long history of playing the sport. Nevertheless, the 6-foot-11-center center looks like he will be a defensive position in the future, and he will learn from Gobert, a four-time defending player of the year.
Shock value when the trade took place
Part of the reason that the trade was questioned at the time is because it is one that was not seen that often. So there was shock value involved when the trade was announced. Teams simply did not give up some first rounders for non-Superstar players.
There have been recent transactions that were similar to what was given up for Mikal Bridges and Desmond Bane, and it shows that teams are more willing to renounce countless choices if they believe it will help their team take the next step. The Knicks and Magic Making those deals can partly be due to seeing how the Timberwolves have reached franchise-best heights with Gobert. It even happened with dealing with all those choices, and they still assured that they have a bright future for them.
