The Minnesota Timberwolves have had two selection places available for some time. Although they do not have to fill both, names are speculated about who they can sign to record one of them. Malcolm Brogdon is a name that was constantly raised and still mentioned.
Timberwolves are still interested in Malcolm Brogdon
Jake Fischer, part of Marc Stein’s The Stein lineposted His most recent substit article On Thursday. In it he talks about the interest of the wolves in Brogdon.
“I said that Brogdon has also been on the radar for both the Knicks and the Timberwolves, which (as noted above) are two of the teams that have followed Beasley’s status,” Fischer wrote.
Reportedly, Malik Beasley is looking for more than the minimum of the veteran, something that Minnesota cannot offer without exceeding the second apron. The Fischer article also states that the Timberwolves are still actively trying to bring Point Guard Bones Hyland back. It was previously reported that the return from Hyland to the Timberwolves is likely.
It is unclear whether Brogdon, a much more accomplished player than Hyland, tries to close a deal for more than the minimum of the veteran. However, this late in the low season is difficult for him to buy one.
Brogdon is talented but injury
The 33 years old on December 11, the 6-foot-4 Brogdon has hardware of his nine-year-old gaming career. He won the sixth man of the year with the Celtics in 2022-23 and was named Rookie of the Year in 2016-17 while he was at the bucks.
The 2024-25 season seemed to be a bucket for him with the wizards, because he connected to only 28.6 percent of his 3-point attempts. Brogdon is a career of 38.5 percent shooter from outside, and he had shot 40 percent or more in the two seasons for the last time.
Unfortunately, a big problem in Brogdon’s career is his inability to stay healthy. Since he played 75 games as a rookie, he has only made at least 56 performances in two of his other eight years in the NBA. In the last two years, Brogdon has combined to play only 63 games.
Although Brogdon may be able to increase the ceiling of a Timberwolves team that is expected to start the 38-year-old Mike Conley soon, it is difficult to trust someone who cannot stay on the line-up. With Rob Dillingham planned for a greater role in his second season, it can express the Timberwolves to enable the 20-year-old to continue playing instead of signing someone who will steal some of his minutes.
