Australian Test and ODI skipper Pat Cummins, who was recently ruled out of the concluded fourth and upcoming fifth Test of the Ashes after missing the first two matches, will undergo a planned period of workload management. He is currently recovering from a back injury. Cummins will undergo scheduled imaging in the coming weeks.
Seamer Josh Hazlewood has returned to normal sprints and running. He is recovering from a hamstring injury and Achilles tendon pain. Hazlewood’s rehabilitation is reportedly progressing on schedule and he will most likely be available for the T20 World Cup in February and March next year.
Middle-order batsman Tim David has been ruled out for the remainder of the ongoing Big Bash League due to a recent grade two right hamstring injury. He injured his hamstring while running between the wickets during Hobart Hurricanes’ clash against Perth Scorchers. David will be in a race against time to be available for selection for the mega event in India and Sri Lanka next year.
Australia head into the fifth Test of the ongoing Ashes leading by a 3-1 margin. The hosts are scheduled to play the final match at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 4. The BBL, which features quite a few prominent Australian cricketers, will end on January 25.
