“We were actually waiting on the ground for an hour. If you look at the TV footage, you will see that I was lying on the ground. The rest were also lying. Arshdeep Singh was busy doing rolls. We were just waiting and thinking that the trophy would come any moment. But it never showed up,” Tilak said.
The players, still high on adrenaline after the match, were reportedly confused as the referees failed to provide a clear explanation. In a moment that should have symbolized their dominance in the tournament, the absence of the trophy left an uncomfortable void on the field.

Despite the bizarre situation, the Indian dressing room found ways to keep morale high. Tilak revealed how Arshdeep Singh turned the situation into a source of entertainment.
“Arshdeep was making roles, everyone was making jokes. We tried to keep the atmosphere light because no one knew what was going on,” he said laughing.

“Arshdeep said, ‘Let’s create an atmosphere ourselves. We will celebrate like we did after the T20 World Cup, just without the trophy.’ Abhishek Sharma and a few others immediately agreed, and we did that.” Tilak explained.
