Thruxton Sunday Service | PH assessment

Thruxton Sunday Service | PH assessment

Last weekend the PH ensemble returned to our end-of-year chapter at the Thruxton Circuit – and while the ice held up, the rain took center stage. There’s always a gamble at winter car meetings in Britain, but the PistonHeads community showed up regardless. Even despite the persistent rain showers, the variety of machinery that characterizes a Sunday service was in operation.

Leading the charge was a moving battalion of BTCC-inspired buildings, which showed up in formation with both retro and modern liveries. Not far behind, a rally-minded team from GR Yarises appropriately showed up.

We expected the usual wet weather regulars – RS4s, RS6s, the reliable quattro contingent – but a Fordson tractor was an unexpected highlight (we assume the trip was mercifully short). Also deserving of wet weather hero status: a fantastic Shogun Pininfarina, plus a strong performance from the brave rear-wheel drive crew, including an Exige 410, Vantage GT8, Z3M, GR86 and a particularly handsome DBS.

Around the circuit, Mission Motorsport kept the skid pan busy with more than 100 sessions. The surface is of course intended to be smooth, but the almost constant rain caused additional disaster. We managed to sneak in an early afternoon slide ourselves with the Subaru, Escort, Mission Motorsport F-Type and Matt’s trusty BMW.

If you couldn’t make it and fancy trying the skidpan, check out the Thruxton Experiences line-up. There’s plenty to choose from: supercar rides, off-road courses and even passenger laps with Tiff Needell. At the time of writing, there are also some useful discounts active. Thank you to Thruxton’s volunteers and organizers for organizing another brilliant event under challenging circumstances. And a special thank you to everyone who supported our 2025 Sunday services. Not including the annual service and the Friday service of Le Mans. We saw over 2,500 cars throughout the year and over 3,500 of you attended.

We’ll take a short break at Christmas, but we’ll be back in the new year with a calendar packed with Sunday services. If you’re looking to get ahead next year, we’ve already announced the date for the PistonHeads Annual Service 2026 (Saturday 8 August at Bicester Motion). Early bird tickets and limited edition gift packs are available now, so be sure to take a look.

Thank you for being part of what makes PistonHeads so special. See you in 2026!
