Thomas Frank apologizes to Spurs fans for Arsenal’s defeat

Thomas Frank apologized to the Spurs fanbase after his side suffered an “extremely painful” defeat to north London rivals Arsenal on Sunday.

Their failure to sign Eberechi Eze came back to haunt them as the Gunners star scored a hat-trick after Leandro Trossard opened the scoring.

Richarlison scored a brilliant long-range effort after picking David Raya off his line, but Tottenham were otherwise rudderless in attack and offered little fight.

“It’s extremely painful,” Frank admitted to Sky Sports. “It was a poor performance and completely the opposite of what was intended before we came here. We can only apologize to the fans for this performance.”

“It didn’t matter if the team played too short, they came out on top and we couldn’t get out of it.

“They were stronger in the duels and we were no longer able to get out of those duels. When it took a long time, with the duels and second balls, we did not win enough.”

“A poor performance on the day itself that we lost.”

Richarlison’s goal was Spurs’ first shot of the match and they only scored two more before the end of the match as they struggled to create chances.

“It is something we are working very hard to improve,” Frank emphasized. “It didn’t look good today and in the game against Chelsea. It looked better in other games.”

“There were a lot of things we had to do better in this match.

“We played against our biggest rivals and lost badly, so of course there will be noise. It is what it is. We block out the noise and focus on the team.”

“I know this team is very competitive. We showed it against Man City and PSG. Today it wasn’t good enough.”
