The New Orleans -Pelikans have a lot of people in their building that seems to be in making or breaking seasons.
Starting with Willie Green, who has been to the team for four seasons but has had trouble building a culture and establishing a real playing style. Jose Alvarado is another name that comes to mind when the overwhelming depth of the pelicans means that Jose must have a big season to be part of the core. People also throw the name Zion Williamson, but because of his relationship with Joe Dumars, things should go terribly wrong for him to be traded.
One man who has not yet been mentioned is Jordan Hawkins, who can be from the couple on the thinnest ice from these three. Hawkins was a striking university and absolute sniper for the Uconn Huskies, which is the main reason that New Orleans generally took him 14th in the 2023 design. Since the arrival in the NBA, J-HAWK has been an all-or-nothing type man; It feels like he is one of those players who either touches five three and has 20 points or is 1-out-7 of deep and is a complete zero.
If you look at his skills, it is very clear that he is a very one -dimensional player who doesn’t shoot much outside three points. Players like these are sometimes dangers to have on their selection, because if, like Hawkins are often, they struggle in their specialty, then they have no impact on the game.
If you look at the depth that the Pelicans have on hold, unless he adds more to his game or becomes one of the best shooters of the competition, it can be traded by the deadline.
He is no Dumars -Man in more ways than one
One of, if not the biggest, factors why I think Hawkins could be treated is that he is not someone who is Dumars. Just like Willie Green, Hawkins was not someone who was set up or signed Dumars, but rather Hawkins is just a piece that he will give the year. We saw how easy it was for Dumaes to refrain from Antonio Reeves, who was someone in which the previous Front Office believed, so who means he would not do the same with J-HAWK.
He is also not the style of players who usually like to focus on Dumars, goes back to his time with Detroit, he has always searched for defense, versatility, star potential and size. Hawkins don’t have all these things.
I am not saying that it is a guarantee that Hawkins will be treated, but if one of these younger players were treated on the Pelicans, I think it would be him.
