Talos Vehicles, a British engineering company specializing in small performance cars, has unveiled a new sports car after two years of development. At first glance it looks like a modified version of the Ferrari 599 GTB (because it is), but the so-called XXT is closer to a 599XX road-going race car. And yes, it is completely street legal.
Each car comes with a modified 6.0-liter V-12 engine that produces 674 horsepower, 54 more than the original, and 460 pound-feet of torque. It has an F1 Superfast six-speed gearbox with paddle shifters and an optional manual gearbox. Talos claims the XXT can hit 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 miles per hour.
The XXT comes with a custom carbon fiber bodywork that mimics the styling of the 599XX. It also has 20-inch forged wheels, with Talos offering optional single-nut hubs. The car is also available in a left and right version.
Talos will limit production to just five cars, and buyers can select custom options including paint, interior trim and matte or gloss finishes. Talos will also offer engine, drivetrain and exhaust modifications, as well as an optional roll cage and in-car entertainment options.
Ferrari produced the 599 GTB Fiorano for five model years, with production ending in 2012. The model had several variants over its lifespan, including a 599 GTO. The automaker replaced it with the F12berlinetta, with the 12Cilindri serving as the brand’s modern V-12 front-engined model.
The Talos XXT starts at £950,000, or $1.24 million at today’s exchange rate, and requires a 599 GTB donor car. Talos builds its cars at its factory in Yorkshire, England. The company has built custom versions of the Porsche 911, Fiat 500, Ford S2000 and Land Rover Ranger Rovers and Defenders.
