Vicki Buholz and I were warmed up at 8:30 am this morning and went back to my apartment a while … I played at 11 am and Vicki and Luisa Gouveia were planned at 1 p.m., so they came back later. I played Jeannette Elly van Nieuw -Zeeland who was super nice. I won pretty quickly (she counted the points) and then invited her for a drink. She plays four tournaments in Europe during her journey and takes public transport everywhere. She played in France and then plays these two tournaments in Austria, before she goes to Frankfurt and then flew home from Paris. All alone.
I saw my opponent Sylvia from yesterday and got a picture of us together today. She had a very long game with Heike Heimentz from Germany and finally won 6-4 in the third (after Heike had gathered from 2/5 down and on 15/30 could not call a ball … but Sylvia beats and hard, so it’s hard to name her balls). Heike had to play double then, what she won … After two long three Setters in 2 days and doubles, she has to be a bit tired! However, I play on Saturday.
I have the day off tomorrow and play my last round of singles against Heike on Saturday morning. Vicki and I will also play Doubles tomorrow or Saturday … They have made the draw today of three players and we got a bye and play with the winner of Luisa/MJ Pachl and Jeannette/Catherine Morgan.
Vicki played Luisa (much later than 1 p.m.) and won 63 61, and they played a pretty strong shower … These courts can contain a lot of rain. She plays against the wife Luisa tomorrow beat 62 60 yesterday.
MJ Pachl from Florida lost 2.1 to Ellen Neumann from Germany, but the last game was long … something like 8 match points before Ellen finally won.
Robert Anderman, USA has performed in the 85 round Robin of the gentlemen; Bruce Barrett, USA, lost last night in three sets (indoor).
