His debut campaign in Manchester, however, was overshadowed by United’s struggle on the field.

And for the new Premier League season, which starts for United in Old Trafford on August 17 against Arsenal, De Ligt is ready to show what he made of

Bryan Mbeumo has joined Brentford for a reported transfer costs of £ 71 million after an excellent campaign in 2024-25 under Thomas Frank.
Mbeumo indeed scored 20 Premier League goals – a count that was improved by only Mohamed Salah (29), Alexander Isak (23) and Erling Haaland (22).
His 27 targeted involvement behind only Isak (29) and Salah (47) in the top term in the past term, with his signing followed by a new attacking addition in Matheus Cunha.
Cunha made 33 Premier League performances for Wolves last season and finished the campaign with a team-high 15 goals, while also registering six assists.
The Brazilian also created 57 chances, more than all his teammates, and had 110 shots (44 on Target), more than one of the United players.
United wants to improve in the forward areas, with only 44 goals in 38 league matches, with only Everton (42), Ipswich Town (36), Leicester City (33) and Southampton (26) less.
And De Ligt is impressed by Mbeumo and Cunha and said: “Bryan [Mbeumo] Has already scored some good goals in the training. Matheus trains really well.
“He is in a new club, a new environment, but you see that he is already chatting and making jokes with teammates. So I think that is also a really good adjustment of him.
‘[Cunha] Is a real technical player – Brazilian flair, really good with the ball, but also very quickly. I didn’t expect that. “
