Look, every publication has its own way to cover the back injury of Pat Cummins and its possible impact on his participation in the ashes. This is ours. (For what it is worth, we have long suspected that for all the columns dedicated to them, Cummins and Ben Stokes are not as central as this series is accepted.)
Pat Cummins has Back-Knack and Australia coach Andrew McDonald said a few things about it earlier this week. These are our top three favorite things he said. (He actually didn’t say much, so these comments are not spectacular, but each of them somehow or another amused us.)
We love the quality of the press release of the company report of this comment, especially since it is connected to a lot of so fundamental and fundamental that it should not really be noticed. What McDonald essentially says here is: “We hope that our Ashes captain will play in the ashes”, and he says this with just a soup of subtekst that reads: “Of course he will not play every game, but we hope he can get through, what, three tests?”
This reads so ambiguous from the context. You scanned something, Ronnie? West -India back? Why did you do that? What does that have to do with something? Why didn’t you scan Cummins if you are worried. McDonald naturally means ‘off the back or’ in the sense of ‘as a result of’ while ‘the West India’ is short for ‘our recent tour through the West -Indies’. But why would you say it that way? This is better.
No explanation required. Do you want to participate in the ashes? “Ooh, I think I can be tempted. I don’t really want to exaggerate it or something, but I could participate.”
