The stunning border with Phoebe Litchfield helped the women of Australia to romp an eight-wicket victory in the opening one-day international against India in New Chandigarh.
India won the Worp and chose to BAT, so Australia set an impressive target in the first of three one -day, which are effective warming competitions for the coming world cup.
But the hosts, after they had posted 281 for seven in their 50 overs, were clinically overhauled by Australia with Litchfield with Litchfield at the forefront, with 14 four in an 80-ball bek kraken, while Beth Moeney and Annabel Sutherland also made impressive half-centuries.
Earlier, the openers Smriti Mandhana (58) and Pratika Rawal (64) and when Harleen Deol also passed the 50 Mark for India, the last at no. 3 became the first of two victims of Megan Schutt (two to 45), who became the ninth Australian woman to play 100 ODIs.
Richa Ghosh (25) and Radha Yadav (19) added valuable runs through the Indian Order, while Depti Sharma was unbeaten on 25 in the light of tight bowling by Ellyse Perry, Sutherland and Georgia Wareham.
In answer, the captain and opener of Australia, Alyssa Healy, it seemed determined to bring the game to India before she fell on the Allrounder Kranti Goode for a strong 27.
But then it was time for Litchfield, then supported by Perry, to really impose herself on the game while she reached her half century of 44 deliveries.
Perry’s contribution was terminated early when the 34-year-old was forced to retire with a calf cramp on 30, but the Litchfield player of the match maintained the momentum until she was 12 points short of a third century when Sneh Rana was caught.

That left Moeney and Sutherland, who were undefeated at 77 and 54 respectively, to see the visitors past the target, and reached 282 for two at 44.1 overs with 35 balls, in what the fourth highest run-augment was in the women’s day days.
