Constructing a world cup schedule

The 2024 Summer Transfer Voten Closed on 1 Septemberstar And more than a dozen Americans made a step in the two -month period. These players range from youth players, such as Mathias Albert, to experienced players such as John Brooks. Some movements were great, and some not. This article will assess several of these transfers and determine whether it was a stock -up or stock.

Sergiño Dest & Malik Tillman to PSV-Stock-up

Both Dest and Malik Tillman went on loan (with option to buy) to PSV in the Eredivisie at the start of last season. Both had a great season where they could have went to a better competition this season. PSV decided to activate the purchase option of both players, making them permanent players for the Dutch club. In my opinion, these are good movements because Dest had a regrettable loan two seasons ago to Milan and a difficult relationship with Xavi Hernandez.

Dest needs another season (in his case, half a season) with the Dutch club to develop, to recover his young career and show clubs that he can compete in the UCL. The same applies to Tillman, who must further develop his attacks, working speed and the ability to compete in the UCL. If both can replicate and/or be able to take a step further from their performance last season, they must return to a top 5 competition. (Note: Bayern has a purchasing option for Malik Tillman)

Santiago Snakes to Paderborn-Stock Up

Colombian-American born in Tampa spent last season with the 3. Liga with Duisburg, where he appeared in 31 games with 2 goals and 2 assists. This season he is at Paderborn, a consistent 2. Bundesliga club and he already has a goal in 5 starts in all competitions. This is impressive if you realize that Santiago will be 20 years old on November 13one. We fans (who do not follow closely), now learn just about him and some have probably already written him off because of his background.

He takes a similar path as Lennard Maloney, who played in both 3. League and 2. Bundesliga before he goes back to the Bundesliga. In the case of Santiago he started with Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USL championship before moving to Duisburg. To add to the move is a stock -up because he is standing up a competition, he is also a CDM, a position where the US is missing. Other American CDMs who are around his age (+/- 1 years old) are Daniel Edelman, Moses Nyeman, Marcel Ruszel and Ethan Kohler (although he is converted to an RB) to name just a few. If he continues this path, he can become the #1 American CDM in his age group, followed by Pedro Soma (who is 2 years younger than Santiago) in the next age group.

Paxten Aaronson to Utrecht-Stock-up

The Olympian of Paris goes back to the Eredivisie, but this time he will become a member of fellow -American Taylor Booth and Rickson van Hees in Utrecht. Paxten had a successful half season with Vitesse where he had 4 goals in 14 performances. Like a Cam, he competes against Gio Reyna and Malik Tillman (both being only a year older) for a place on the USMNT. At the moment, neither is it, even because Gio is an injury and the lack of production of Tillman for the USMNT.

Gio has had different occasions of great moments with the national team and Tillman comes from a 24-goal contribution season. Going back to the Eredivisie would help its development enormously before he goes back to Eintracht Frankfurt. Even if he has a more productive season than Tillman, there is an argument to make the #2 cam for the usmnt. Tillman currently has 4 target contributions in 5 games in all competitions to the 1 assist of Paxten in 4 games.

Caleb Wiley to Chelsea with Loan to Strasbourg Stock Up

This is one of the players who needed a move this summer and who could get an upgrade. Caleb Wiley has demonstrably the highest ceiling under our U23 pound. Now Strasbourg uses it more than LWB, which in my opinion is his best position. Last season in Atlanta, Wiley started as an LW that led to a fantastic form. When he moved to LB, he became inconsistent and stagnated, but he played more like an LWB and his shape went up again. Together with that and with him in December 20, he had to come from MLS.

We see what happens to players who stay in the MLS for too long, ie John Tolkin, who has had difficulty switching his club form to the USMNT, and Brandon Vazquez, who is now struggling to start for Monterrey and from the USMNT photo. Playing in a top 5 competition and developed into an LWB can help him unlock his full potential. To add, Wiley already has 2 starts, a rest replacement and an assist for Strasbourg.

Rodrigo Neri to Atlanta 2 Stock Down

This is one of the most disappointing movements for those who follow the U20 team and the future condition of the USMNT striker position. Neri’s young career has fallen dramatically in just one year. He was part of the Atletico de Madrid Academy since 2021, but left their U19 team for Valencia U19 until now Atlanta 2. Based on Be football, Neri had 0 target contributions in just 11 races for both Spanish U19 teams. 7 games in and Neri already have 3 goals and 1 assist for Atlanta 2. This may mean that he has improved, returned to his Atletico U19 B form (where he had 17 goals in 32 games), and/or that MLSNP is weaker than División de Honor Juvenil (the competition that is that). Anyway, we can already see that his lack of goals has influenced his international career.

The last time he was part of the team was the U19/20 March camp against Morocco and England. He was omitted from the Concacaf U20 championship for Keyrol Figueroa and Marcos Zambrano. This is after he was part of the U19 team that participated in the Panam matches of 2023 where he had 1 goal in 5 games. In addition, he had scored a goal against England and a brace against Norway when he was part of the U17 team in 2022. Because the US even had a piece about Neri in 2022 and called him the next big thing for the US.

Usually this would almost bring you from the international conversation, but knowing the habit of our soccer to MLSNP players such as Sergio Oregel Jr. To call, there is still a chance that Neri can be back in the conversation in the conversation of the U20 World Cup 2025. The only positive thing about this step is that it can help him get his career back on track.

Vaughn Covil to Las Vegas-Stock Down Down

For the career of Covil this was the right step to make. For his international career it leaves the Philippines only for him. His chances with England would never happen. 2-3 years ago you could have said that he had a chance with the US and even more with Canada with the right development. Now he is better off the Philippines if he wants to have an international career.

It is a share movement because it would have been better if he had closed a deal with an EFL League 2 club than to come to the USL championship and because it is limited to only one national team instead of four. Hopefully he will do well with Las Vegas and can get a call from the Philippines.

Jonathan Gomez to Paok Stock Down

This step is one of the most disappointing of all transfers this summer by an American. While in Louisville and with the usynnt, he looked like a future LB/LWB option for the USMNT and a double national battle with Mexico. When he went to Real Sociedad and after his successful loan to Mirandes in La Liga 2, things were in an upward route. He left Real Sociedad (probably because they did not want to extend his contract, so they choose to sell him to make a profit) for reigning Greek champions, Paok. If it should have been positive that he will play on a 1 in his first seasonstar Division, it’s a negative because it’s the Greek Super League 1. Paok is also in the Europa League and that should have been positive for his career, but the Greek champions left him from their UEL schedule.

He is still only 21 years old and if he does well enough for them, he can go to a better competition in a season or two. At the moment he went out of the conversation to compete with Lund, Tolkin and Wiley to be the future #1 LB/LWB. To make matters worse, the 2024/25 season of Caleb Wiley started well in Strasbourg with 2 starts and an assist. You could claim that jogo during the U20 World Cup 2023 was the two of the two on the LB/LWB position, but now Wiley is above him on the depth card.

Aidan Morris to Middlesborough-Stock-up

Just like Caleb Wiley, Morris had to leave MLS to promote his development and to avoid the situation in which John Tolkin is located. Although Morris has been underwhelming for the USMNT, he has the potential to be a consistent player of the 23-26 men’s schedule. Until now he has been a striking and quick favorite among the fans this season. Going to the EFL championship was one of the best choices he could have made as his next stop. The physicality of the competition will teach him how to become more physical and his rapid decision -making. The development can easily place it in the top 4 CDM options for 2026.

The biggest question is for him, he can transfer his great club form to the national team. If he can get it done, he can jump Lennard Maloney and Tanner Tessmann, depending on how he is doing with Lyon this season. This is a top 3 movement by an American player, not just because how the season goes so far for him, but because Boro will compete for promotion and development potential.

Tanner Tessman from Lyon-Stock-up

Tessmann’s Transfersaga is one for the books. He was closely connected to Inter Milan and Fiorentina until both fell apart due to disagreements. Towards the end of the transfer window, he received a switch to a Top Ligue 1club, Lyon. If he had stayed with Venezia, he would still have played in a top five competition, but Lyon is the better option. Venezia will fight to stay in the Serie A like in 2021/22, while Lyon is consistently a top 10 French club and in many cases a top 5 club.

To add that, Lyon is in the Uel. The season is not going well for Lyon now, but they can recover and compete for the UEFA qualification. The club and the fans will be more demanding than Venezia because of their prestige, he can learn from experienced players such as Matic and Vetout and it would require him to compete for starting. It will be a real test for him after his last time in a top 5 competition did not go so well and two great seasons in the series B.

All these will help him take the next step and help him to be in the top 3 CDM USMNT conversation. The Battle Tessmann, Aidan Morris, Maloney, Johnny Cardoso and Tyler Adams (as soon as he returns) for the top 2 CDM spots on the USMNT will be a pleasure to view this season.
