After talking about the goals of Saddiq Bey for the 2025-26 season, it is time for part five of my series, where I give goals for the entire schedule of New Orleans Pelicans for this following season. In this part I will talk about the player who came with Bey in the CJ McCollum Trade, Jordan Poole.
Poole will be a huge addition to the New Orleans -Pelikans this season. JP comes from a career year in his second season at the Washington Wizards and is ready to play meaningful basketball again.
Last season, Poole had an average of 20.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in just 29.4 minutes per match. He also shot an unreal 37.8% of three out of 9.1 attempts per game, making him the fifth highest three -point attempts per game last season.
This is huge for New Orleans, because last season they were in the soil five in both three -point attempts and. This makes the addition of a high-volume, very efficient shooter such as Poole a large one, and one that can help to increase their offensive ceiling.
Moreover, after the disaster that was last season, the pelicans now have a healthy point -watch game. That is something that many of us expected they would not have, with Dejounde Murray expected to miss the start of the 2025-26 season.
For the goals of Poole this season, I think he should have a general season goal and a goal in the middle season.
Stay in the top 10 in the attempt at three and hold down things while Dejounde is out
For the year one of the Jordan Poole experience to be a success, I believe that an important goal should be for him to effectively fulfill the role of starting point guard, while Dejounde Murray is out.
We know that during the entire career of JP he is at his best like a maker of a spark plug from the bank, what the role he played in Golden State is, and we saw how that worked. But because in his best year of his career as a starter he comes to the wizards, I believe he can hold things as a starter while fans are waiting for the return of Dejounde Murray.
From a realistic point of view, New Orleans Murray should have returned by December, so the only thing they really need is 30 games as a starter of Poole, which he is more than able to do.
His other goal should be to keep his incredible shooting. For Poole to shoot more than 35% of three on more than nine attempts that a competition is unreal last season and can bring the pelican attack to a completely new level. During the Zion Williamson era, New Orleans never had anyone who is such a big threat when Poole is, and it can open this violation for new possibilities.
If JP can stay in attempts in that top 10 and can shoot again above 37%, we will be up for an absolute treat next season.
