The T20 World Cup 2026 will probably be played between 7 February and 8 March. The tournament is co -organized by India and Sri Lanka and will include 20 teams.
The matches are played at at least five locations in India and two in Sri Lanka. The final will be in Ahmedabad or Colombo, depending on whether Pakistan plays. India and Pakistan do not play in each other’s countries due to tense political relationships between the two governments at the moment.
While the ICC is still completing the schedule, ESPNCRICINFO has learned that it has identified the window and informed the participating countries.
Currently, 15 teams have been confirmed for the T20 World Cup 2026: India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, US, West -India, New -Zeeland, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands and Italy, who have qualified for a world cup. Of the remaining five teams, two will come from the regional qualifying match of Africa and three of the qualifying match of Asia and East Asia Pacific.
The format will be the same as the T20 World Cup 2024 in West -India and the US, where the 20 teams were divided into four groups of each, each with the top two of each group that qualified for the Super Eight round, where the eight teams were again divided into two groups of four. The top two of each Super Eight group went to the semi-final. India are the ruling champions, who have defeated South Africa in the final in Barbados. The entire tournament consisted of 55 games.
India organizes various selection framework events in the first four months of 2026, starting with the WPL, dates for which it is still yet to be completed. The BCCI has reserved a window between the beginning of January and the beginning of February for the five team tournament. The WPL will be followed by the World Cup Men’s T20, after which the BCCI will organize the IPL, with the provisional window from 15 March to 31 May. India also organizes new -Zeeland for ODIS and T20Is from 11 to 31 January.
