The original Ford Maverick had a number of great colors, how does the new truck get on? – Jalopnik

It is not exactly a bold pressure to point out that the original Ford Maverick from 1970-1977 and the Ford Maverick 2022 current do not have much in common. In the 1970s, the Ford Maverick was a nice little coupé (a four-door version that followed shortly thereafter) built on the chassis of the outgoing Falcon with the same crummy suspension as the Mustang. Today’s Ford Maverick is a small affordable pick -up that, although about as far as you can get from the namesake, is refreshing in a world of huge trucks. I suppose the Through Line here are both Mavericks affordable vehicles, because when it comes to paint color options, the two Mavericks hardly compare.

The Ford Maverick did not change from coupé to truck at night. It took years that the name was fit for several body styles all over the world before it became the utilitarian vehicle that the US knows today. Ford initially reused the Maverick name on a recovery Nissan Patrol Y60 in Australia, recovered Nissan Terrano II in Spain, and then as the Chinese and European version of the escape in the nineties. The Maverick Pick -Up that we know today and that we love, debuted in the US in 2022.

Don’t color me surprisingly

Scroll through the copper catalogs of the Ford Maverick via the happiest place on the internet, the Ford Heritage VaultIt is clear that they simply do not make colors like before. And the names! I want to register to work as Ford’s Head of Nomenclature, just to bring part of these back. In 1970 the Maverick was available in Anti-Eestablish Mint, Hulla Blue, Original Cinnamon, Freudiaans gilded, thanks Vermillion, Candyapple Red, Black Jade, Champagne Gold, Gulfstream Aqua, Meadowlark Geel, Brittany Blue, Lime Gold, Dresden Blauwe.

Gosh! 15 colors, and not only variations on gray. In 1970 you have two different shades of gold and three blues. Incredible. More colors and paint effects were added as the line grew, with premium shades such as metallic glow paint offered. Maverick -buyers could choose from Gold Glow, Ivy Glow of Blue Glow from 1972.

You can probably only see from the world that nowadays we have no similar spread of color options. By combing the brochures, shows that color options can sometimes grow up to 20 different shades that are offered. For comparison: Ford as of this writing only offers nine colors on the new Maverick, six of which are somewhere on the gray scale and none of them have Punny names. If you want a nice Maverick color, you can go with eruption Green Metallic or Velocity Blue Metallic.

Of course, via Wraps we have the option to change the colors of our car fairly easily, but it is simply not the same as having a beautifully produced factory paint finish. White, gray, black and silver have been dominated for more than ten years now the American automotive landscape, with far too few nice colors. Ford should have had the chance to offer a wide range of fun colors on a car with the name Maverick, but unfortunately we will probably have to be happy for a while with a green and blue.
