There is no sporting event, not an event in general, in the world such as the Ryder Cup. It’s alone.
Part of the tradition behind the Ryder Cup is the intensity of all this. In a fight against Europe, the United States is in a battle that is larger than any individuals and who transcends wave in many ways. Big championships are all incredible, but like most things in Golf they are individual performance. The Ryder Cup is played and eventually won in the name of something bigger than any person. It is about who you are and who you belong to.
The Ryder Cup naturally has a high level of intensity, but it also has a high level of prestige and honor. Many have come through and won and have done this with extreme dignity and grace. That is golf in the purest sense.
The Nicklaus-Jacklin Award awarded by Aon is and has been designed to honor these general qualities. Ultimately it honors the player who best represents the spirit of the Ryder Cup and it is officially back for 2025 and for all the glory that we will see at Bethpage Black.
