“The match went as we expected…,” explains Rob Edwards after Wolves 0 Newcastle 0

Rob Edwards watched as Sunday’s match ended at Wolves 0 Newcastle 0.

A match with few big chances on either side.

Newcastle United has twice as much ball possession as the home team, but cannot benefit from a full, deep defense.

Ron Edwards said after the final whistle: “Newcastle have very good players, but overall the game went as we expected. I’m very happy with the clean sheet, we didn’t give much away.”

Wolves have now conceded just two goals in their last four Premier League matches, while they are unbeaten in the last three weeks. Two wins and three draws in all competitions.

Rob Edwards speaks to BBC Match of the Day after Wolves 0 Newcastle 0: “A really solid performance, really committed and we showed a lot of spirit. Newcastle United are obviously a very good team. I thought we had a lot of control without the ball. When we had to attack we did, we looked a threat on the counter-attack.”

The match was largely a non-event in terms of entertainment and goal-scoring action, but the Wolves boss was looking for the positives…“It was a very committed performance. People will look at the results and think that it suddenly clicked, but the performances were there before. We are not there yet, we understand that there is still a lot of work to do. The boys are there, the crowd was with us the whole game. We are making some good steps forward.”
